Harinder S. Ghuman, M.D.
Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Pediatrics,
Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program

Harinder S. Ghuman, M.D. is Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Pediatrics, and Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Arizona. He is also Training Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Training Program. Dr. Ghuman is board certified in Child, Adolescent and General Psychiatry. He is Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Ghuman received his medical degree from the Punjabi University, Patiala, India. He completed his general psychiatry residency at Rochester Psychiatric Center affiliated with University of Rochester and fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at Washington University, St. Louis. Before coming to Tucson, Dr. Ghuman spent over 20 years in Baltimore including 12 years at the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital and 8 years at the University of Maryland.

Dr. Ghuman has written number of scientific articles and book chapters. He has co-edited three books titled, Handbook of Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Treatment, Handbook of Child and Adolescent  Outpatient, Day Treatment and Community Psychiatry, and Providing Mental Health Services to Youth Where They Are.

Dr. Ghuman’s areas of interest include study of treatment compliance, outcome and interventions, issues of grandparents caring for youth with psychiatric problems, PTSD, juvenile delinquency, and psychopharmacology.
